Within the last year or so one of the most popular things in fashion has become aesthetics. People are trying to be an "aesthetic" and dress like it too.

Social media platforms such as Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok have really helped push this aesthetic movement with their being so many different people sharing their own aesthetic.

(Fun drinking game: drink every time I say aesthetic)

Let's have a look at some of the more popular aesthetics...

  1. Minimalist Aesthetic

The minimalist aesthetic is probably the most basic out of all of them.

It consists of mostly neutral tones and and tends to be a very modest look. It also normally includes very minimal jewelry, if any.

There is nothing wrong with having a more basic style or being modest. Some people are just more comfortable that way and that's 100% okay.

This aesthetic is absolutely perfect for someone who maybe doesn't always have fashion on the brain and isn't always reading up on the latest trends.

It's simple and more practical for people who have other goals they want to accomplish, while still looking amazing.

2. Art Mom Aesthetic

The art mom aesthetic is also commonly known as the plant mom aesthetic.

This aesthetic's main staple is yellow. Yellow everything. It gives off such a fun and sunny vibe.

Another common trait of this aesthetic is mom jeans.

If yellow isn't your favourite, but you really like this aesthetic that's okay. Just substitute in some fun bright colours to make this aesthetic work for you.

3. Baddie Aesthetic

The baddie aesthetic is a little more complex than the pervious two that we talked about. This aesthetic doesn't just have one or two things that make it unique, but there are definitely some things that you could probably find in a baddie's closet.

The main things are probably going to be chunky sneakers, ripped straight-leg jeans, joggers, and crop tops.

There is a lot of room to play with this aesthetic, seeing how there is no one colour or type of clothing that makes this aesthetic unique. It's more of a style.

4. Vintage/Thrifted Aesthetic

This aesthetic is 100% the most self explanatory... it's just a more vintage style and most vintage clothes are thrifted.

This includes anything from old band tees to vintage Gucci.

This aesthetic is a little like the baddie aesthetic in the sense that there is a lot of room to play around with styling the clothes that you thrift.

5. Grunge Aesthetic

The grunge aesthetic gives me some E-girl vibes and I think the two are very similar in style.

This aesthetic's main staple is obviously black. It is included in 99.9% of all outfits. Even more so is when it is layered on top of a long sleeve tee.

Other common pieces for this aesthetic include: vans, chunky black boots, chains, and utility belts.

There are definitely more aesthetics out there, these are just the most popular ones that I am consistently seeing on social media.

It's also important to keep in mind when finding your style that you don't have to pick one aesthetic.

Maybe you do and that's okay, but it's also okay to incorporate different aspects of all different kinds of aesthetics to make a style that you love and it unique to you.

This was definitely the latest trend that I was the most skeptical about seeing as how many times I've seen people wear leopard print and make it look kinda trashy...

However, after some experimenting I discover that this print could potentially be your style's new best friend!!

There are just so many options with leopard print. You could, for example, dress up this top with some tight black jeans and heels or you could wear some high waisted black jean shorts and some Birkenstocks for a more casual look.

That's what drew me to this trend... the fact that it's styling possibilities are endless and I'm always searching for pieces that go with more than one thing and are good for more than one outfit. You know I like to get my money's worth out of something I'm going to invest in for my wardrobe;)

Definitely would recommend maybe going out and thrifting some cute leopard print pieces and play around with styling them... it might just end up being your new favourite trend too;)
